Maria Teresa Caetano was awarded her PhD and her MSc in Art History of Antiquity from Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas of Universidade Nova de Lisboa (FCSH-UNL).
Her Doctoral thesis is entitled ANIMALIA QVÆ LACTE ALVNTVR - representação de mamíferos nos mosaicos romanos da Península Ibérica, focuses on the representation of mammals in roman Hispania's mosaics and was approved with top classification. Her Master thesis is entitled Musivária Olisiponense. Estudo dos mosaicos romanos de Olisipo e da “zona W” do Ager, focuses on the roman mosaics of ancient Lisbon, was advisored by Prof. J.M. Bairrão Oleiro and was also approved with top classification.
She is a Cultural Expert and Assessor at Câmara Municipal de Sintra (Sintra Town Hall), an Invited Assistant Professor at FCSH-UNL (Art History Department), in area of Cultural Heritage, an Associated Researcher and Member of the Scientific Committee of Instituto de História da Arte (FCSH-UNL) and a Member of AIEMA (Association International pour l'Étude de la Mosaïque Antique), of AEEMA (Asociación Española para el Estudio del Mosaico Antíguo), of APECMA (Associação Portuguesa para o Estudo e Conservação do Mosaico Antigo) and of APHA (Associação Portuguesa dos Historiadores da Arte).
She has organized scientific meetings on Art History, co-curated Art exhibitions and participated by invitation in free courses, academic seminars, symposia and scientific research teams in Portugal, France and Turkey, with several publications.
