About

Cátia Mourão was awarded her PhD and her MSc in Art History of Antiquity and is graduated in History/History of Art, all from Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas of Universidade Nova de Lisboa (FCSH-UNL).
Her Doctoral thesis focused on the heteromorphic figurations (teratologies, hybrids and metamorphosis in progress) in roman Hispania's mosaics, was approved with top classification by an international jury and recommended for publication. Her Master thesis on water iconography in roman mosaics of Portugal was supported by Science and Technology Foundation (FCT), approved with top classification by an international jury and published by EPAL (Lisboa, 2008).
She is a Cultural Assessor at Museu da Assembleia da República (Museum of the Portuguese Parliament), a Member and Associated Researcher of Instituto de História da Arte (FCSH-UNL) and a Member of AIEMA (Association International pour l'Étude de la Mosaïque Antique).
She has organized scientific meetings on Art History of Antiquity, co-curated Art exhibitions and participated by invitation in free courses, academic seminars, symposia and scientific research teams in Portugal, Spain, France and Turkey, with several publications.
Parallel to her work, she writes and paints, published two books in prose (Campo das Letras, 2007 and Corpos Editora, 2012) and makes occasional individual and collective art exhibitions (from 1990 until now).
